The type of honey that is produced depends on the raw material that the bee family brings to the hive. It is either nectar or honeydew or a mixture of both. Nectar is plant sap that occurs during flowering. Forager bees collect it to finally produce multi-floral nectar honey. Chemical and physical processes take place already during the bee's return flight to the hive.
How is the healthiest honey made?
Real, natural multifloral honey is made from the nectar of various flowers and plants. Bees bring pollen and nectar to the hive literally from available meadow and field flowers and orchards that are currently blooming. “Unlike honeys of the same species, they have a more diversified chemical composition, resulting from the fact that the raw material for their production comes from more than one plant species. This will make multifloral honey more valuable in terms of nutritional and medicinal value.
How do we know what type of honey it is?
Based on the analysis of the pollen content in honey, we can determine from which nectar the honey was produced. Only precise laboratory tests show whether the honey is specific (e.g. heather) or multifloral. It is true that multifloral honey is easier to collect. Why ? Because each unsuccessful attempt of a beekeeper to collect honey with a predominance of one bee pollen (e.g. from linden) causes the resulting honey to automatically become multi-floral honey.
As different plants bloom in spring than in summer, there are two types of multifloral honey with different health benefits.
- SPRING multi-flower nectar honey
- SUMMER multi-flower nectar honey
The name is long, but professional. When choosing a jar of honey, both in a store and from a beekeeper, it is worth paying attention to the properly labeled honey. A correctly prepared label is a confirmation for the consumer that he is choosing honey made from NATURAL raw materials.
To sum up
Multifloral honeys, due to their commonness, greater availability and possibly more "primitive" taste, are treated as inferior honeys, but from a scientific and health point of view, completely unjustified. Moreover, multifloral honeys are among the most attractive in terms of prices. Therefore, we encourage you to consume more, despite all belief.
Enjoy your meal :-)
